'Party with a Purpose' for Ontario's Kids with Physical Disabilities
Toronto, ON, June 22, 2007—This weekend’s ‘party with a purpose’ is the 16th annual Easter Seals 24 Hour Relay. After months of raising pledges, people from all walks of life will have fun relaying for 24 hours in support of kids with physical disabilities. Since its beginning, the Easter Seals 24 Hour Relay has raised more than $6.4 million for equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, and communication devices, Easter Seals camps, and other recreational activities such as day camps and art classes.
Twenty-eight teams of up to 36 individuals will raise over $300,000, which will help families with the high costs of raising a child with physical disabilities. Provincial Easter Seals’ Ambassadors Nikky Henderson and Matthew Debly, as well as Jerry Howarth, the voice of the Blue Jays, will be at the opening ceremonies on Saturday June 23th at Coronation Park in Toronto.
