Team Support Makes a Difference at Easter Seals 24 Hour Relay

Toronto, ON, June 12 2008— The Easter Seals 24 Hour Relay is a ‘party with a purpose’ where dedicated teams continuously run, jog or walk a 2.5 kilometre course for 24 hours straight – all in support of kids with physical disabilities. The event, which takes place Saturday, June 21st –22nd at Toronto’s Coronation Park, also includes off-track activities such as, beach volleyball, flag football, dancing, DJ and live music. The 24 Hour Relay is a great team building exercise with fundraising incentives that encourage teams to set ambitious fundraising goals for Easter Seals kids.

“We are very proud to be involved in the Easter Seals 24-Hour Relay for the past 17 Years - a wonderful fundraiser for Easter Seals kids,” says Paul V. Godfrey President and CEO Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Club.

During the Relay’s 17-year history, individual social clubs, sports groups and companies and their corporate teams have generated more than $7 million for Easter Seals kids. Money raised goes towards funding for essential equipment such as walkers, wheelchairs and communication devices, providing summer camping experiences at Easter Seals camps, as well as funding of other recreational activities such as day camps, swimming and art classes.

“This is a team driven event where people work hard to fundraise throughout the year, to help support children and youth with physical disabilities and their families,“ says Sandra Bellisario, Vice President of Development for Easter Seals Ontario. “The Easter Seals 24 Hour Relay is really a celebration of the commitment of individuals, teams and our sponsors in a fun-filled weekend of activity, for support that truly makes a difference.”
