Toronto, ON, July 3, 2008 –The Toronto Harbour will be a sea of smiling kids, as the Toronto Easter Seals Regatta at the Royal Canadian Yacht Club gets underway, Saturday July 5th, for Ontario’s kids with physical disabilities. The Toronto Easter Seals Regatta includes sailboats, power boats and Easter Seals Children’s Cruisers, where skippers teach the art of sailing to Easter Seals kids, so they too, can experience the fun and excitement of crashing through the waves.
In its 19-year history, the Toronto Easter Seals Regatta has become the largest charitable regatta in the province and has raised over $4 million for children and youth with physical disabilities and their families.
Money raised will go towards financial assistance for essential equipment such as walkers, wheelchairs and communication devices, providing fully accessible summer camping experiences at Easter Seals camps, as well as funding of recreational choices such as swimming and art classes.
