Teamwork Counts at Money Mart Easter Seals 24 Hour Relay

Toronto, ON, May 25, 2010— Imagine a day where every time you tried to move, you were met with a physical obstacle. Life wouldn’t be easy and you’d need some help. That is why teams of everyday people are fundraising and joining the Money Mart Easter Seals 24 Hour Relay. This event, dubbed ‘Party with a Purpose’ features teams of people continuously jogging or walking a 2.5 kilometre course for 24 hours straight – all in support of children and youth with physical disabilities.

The event takes place Father’s Day weekend, Saturday, June 19th–20th at Toronto’s Coronation Park across from the CNE. It is 24 hours of fun that starts with a warm-up lead by Trish Stratus and Stratusphere Yoga, and a day of activities such as, volleyball, softball, and a chance to practice your golf swing. There will also be great food, live music and entertainment. Popular Toronto illusionist, Ray Chance, will perform a special strolling and stage performance on Saturday afternoon.

During Toronto’s 24 Hour Relay’s 19-year history, individual social clubs, sports groups, companies and their corporate teams have generated more than $7.5 million for Easter Seals kids. Money raised assists families of kids with physical disabilities with the purchase of costly mobility equipment and communication devices. By providing financial assistance, Easter Seals performs an essential service to families who might not otherwise have the resources to obtain this equipment. Easter Seals also owns and operates two fully accessible camp properties and is recognized as an industry leader in providing specialized recreation programs for kids with physical disabilities at Easter Seals camps.

“We are incredibly proud of our involvement with Easter Seals and can’t thank our staff and customers enough for their tremendous efforts year after year,” says Larry Taylor, President, National Money Mart. “The programs and services provided through Easter Seals helps thousands of kids with physical disabilities in so many ways and we’re absolutely thrilled to be a part of that.”

Ontario sponsors of the event include: Money Mart, Deloitte, AMJ Campbell Van Lines, Steam Whistle Brewing and South St. Burger Co.
