Leaders of Tomorrow is a program that prepares youth and young adults with a physical disability for future independence by promoting excellence through leadership development and community involvement.

This program has an application process and selected participants will receive a two day training program at Easter Seals Camp Woodeden in London, Ontario.

Where and When

  • Easter Seals Camp Woodeden in London, Ontario.
  • August 25th-27th 2008
  • Arrival at 10 a.m Departure at 1 p.m.

Easter Seals Camp Woodeden is located on 107 acres of scenic woods overlooking the Thames River in London, Ontario. The beautifully landscaped grounds include an accessible treehouse and North America’s only wheelchair accessible high ropes course.

Who Can Attend

  • Youth and young adults who have a physical disability and are between the ages of 16 and 25.
  • Participants must exhibit leadership potential and be willing to learn.
  • Participants must be able to self direct their own personal care needs.

Leadership Training

  • Interactive workshop, keynote speakers and guest panels.
  • Learn more about Easter Seals Ontario.
  • Tips on effective communication and public speaking.
  • Professional media training by the A-Channel Station.
  • Group teambuilding sessions on the high ropes course.
  • Opportunities to network with other youth and young adults with physical disabilities.
  • Evening social activities.

Participant Expectations

After attending Leaders of Tomorrow, participants are required to:

  • Commit to acting as an Ambassador for Easter Seals Ontario for a period of 1 year and work with Easter Seals staff and volunteers.
  • Participate in quarterly conference calls to discuss progress with other Leaders of Tomorrow.

Cost

Food, accommodations and attendant care are provided by Easter Seals Ontario. Participants are required to arrange for and provide their own transportation to Easter Seals Camp Woodeden in London, Ontario.
