Easter Seals Announces Decision to Sell Lakewood Camp Property
The Easter Seal Society, Ontario announced today that it will sell its Lakewood Camp property in Wainfleet, Ontario, on the shores of Lake Erie.
Easter Seals invested $4 million over the past two years to expand the capacity of Woodeden and Merrywood with new camper cabins and upgraded swimming facilities. Easter Seals is now able to serve the same number of children at its two remaining camps, Merrywood (near Perth) and Woodeden (near London).
The Lakewood property will be put up for sale on the open market. We intend to reinvest the net proceeds from the sale in programs and services, including the further revitalization of the remaining camp sites, so that children with physical disabilities can enjoy a summer camping experience that challenges their abilities, gives them the opportunity to make friends and, most of all, enables them to have fun.
Easter Seals greatly appreciates the support of donors, service clubs, campers and staff, both past and present, who played a significant role in over 50 years of success at Lakewood. It will be difficult to say goodbye to Camp Lakewood. However, we are confident both campers and staff will enjoy their camp experience at Woodeden and Merrywood.
